Twenty Percenters Disc Golf Club
Purpose of the Twenty Percenters Disc Golf Club is as
follows:
Article 1 - Name of Organization
The name shall be the Twenty Percenters Disc Golf Club, hereto referred to as the Disc Golf Club or the Club.
Article 2 – Membership
The Disc Golf Club is open to all without regard to age, race, creed or religion, color, handicap, sex, national origin, ancestry, sexual orientation, or political affiliation.
Article 3 - Disc Golf Club Executive Board
Section 1. Officer Positions
A. President
B. Vice-President
C. Treasurer
D. Secretary
Section 2. Election of Officers
A. Anybody can run for a Disc Golf Club officer position.
B. Election of officers for the following calendar year shall take place in the month of
November during a Club meeting. Officer positions and the date of the meeting for elections will be publicized on the Club’s web site at least two (2) weeks in advance of the election.
C. In the case that an officer resigns or is expelled (see By-Law #5), an officer election will be held within one month. The officer position and the date of the meeting for the election will be publicized on the Club’s web site at least two (2) weeks in advance of the election.
D. Voting shall be done by current members through a secret ballot, administered by current officers not running for office in that election or by the club Advisor(s) if all officers are running for re-election.
E. Votes will be collected and counted by at least two members not running for an officer position.
F. Candidates receiving a simple majority are elected.
G. Should a simple majority not be reached, a run-off election will take place between the top two candidates for each office.
Section 3. The duties and powers of the President shall be as follows:
A. Preside over monthly Club meetings.
B. Preside over monthly Executive Board meetings.
C. Schedule meetings.
D. Generate ideas for tournaments and activities.
E. Delegate tasks for completion of tournaments and activities to members.
F. Appoint committees and the Spokesperson for the club.
G. Keep club members informed of campus and community events.
H. In summary: The President will preside over meetings and oversee the general operation of the Club. S/he will have the responsibility of
appointing the representative for the Club to any potential sponsors, or at any community event such as (but not limited to) tournaments and membership drives. S/he may appoint any number of members to provide assistance in this area, or to relieve him/her of the representation temporarily for any reason that is deemed necessary. S/he may form committees, officer positions, or project leaders to oversee specific projects. S/he will be the only member that can move for the removal of the Advisor(s) or another member including the officers. Another officer must second this motion, and the motion must be passed by a three-fourths majority vote by the membership body.
Section 4. The duties and powers of the Vice-President shall be as follows:
A. Attend monthly Club meetings.
B. Attend monthly Executive Board meetings.
C. Preside over Club or Executive Board meetings when the President is unable to do so.
D. Chair elections for officer positions if not running for office.
E. Recruit club members to represent the Cub in various community events.
F. Organize activities to recruit new club members in the community.
G. Read off all amendments to the constitution at the monthly Club meetings.
H. Assume the role of President if the current President resigns or is expelled (see By-Law #5).
I. In summary: The Vice-President will assist the President in the operation of the Club. S/he will fill in for the President at meetings if the president is not in attendance. S/he will assume the office of President automatically if that office becomes vacant for any reason. If the Vice-President does not want to assume the President's position, a new President will be elected according to this constitution's standard election procedure. If the President moves for the removal of the Advisor(s) and/or any member, the Vice-President shall have the power to formally disagree with that motion. In this case, the membership body vote must be in unanimous agreement with the President (excluding the vote of the Vice-President) in order to pass.
Section 5. The duties and powers of the Treasurer shall be as follows:
A. Attend monthly Club meetings.
B. Attend monthly Executive Board meetings.
C. Deliver treasury reports at club meetings.
D. Process all forms necessary for the completion of community tournaments and activities.
E. Coordinate fund-raising activities.
F. Keep all Club financial records in order, including collecting dues, ordering materials and making payments in a timely fashion.
G. In summary: The Treasurer will be responsible for keeping the Club account current, collecting dues and issuing checks. S/he will be in charge of handling money at all club functions. If s/he cannot attend, s/he will designate another member whose dues are paid in full to temporarily assume the office for the club function in question. The appointed member must be pre-approved by the President and confirmed by the Vice-President. If the Vice-President should resign, the Treasurer will have the option of automatically assuming the role. If s/he chooses not to, a new Vice-President will be elected according to this constitution's standard election procedure for that office.
Section 6. The duties and powers of the Secretary shall be as follows:
A. Attend monthly Club meetings.
B. Attend monthly Executive Board meetings.
C. Prepare and type Club minutes; distribute minutes to members in Club meetings by
e-mail and by posting said information on the Club web site.
D. Notify club members of events by telephone, mailed memos, word of mouth, and e-mails.
E. Publicize events sponsored by the Club.
F. Contact Park Directors for tournament approval and permits as needed.
G. Maintain the Club web site.
H. In summary: The Secretary will be responsible for keeping minutes at general meetings, organization of these minutes and reviewing minutes at successive meetings. The Secretary will also be responsible for maintaining any paperwork (except financial, which will be handled by the Treasurer) that may come into existence during the course of (for example, but not limited to) a tournament, a community function, or a fund-raiser.
Article 4 – Meetings
Section 1. Meetings will take place after leagues and on other announced dates determined by the officers. These meetings are open to any interested community members with ideas, questions, or suggestions for the Disc Golf Club. The site of the meeting will be determined by an officer, and communicated to the membership body via e-mail. Any officer or member may call emergency meetings, however, a meeting called by any officer or member other than the President must be communicated to and approved by the President before taking place. Meetings will be held at least once a
quarter.
Section 2. Monthly Disc Golf Club President and Advisor(s) meetings will take place to ensure that the Advisor(s) and President are up-to-date on Club concerns.
Article 6 - Finances
Section 1. Funds shall be obtained through grant writing, sponsorships, fund-raisers, and the Student Government Association (SGA).
Section 2. If the Disc Golf Club is dissolved, club funds and equipment shall be donated to the Stevens Point Community Foundation – Disc Golf Fund. Any funds received from the Student Government Association during that fiscal year of being dissolved will be returned to SGA.
Article 5 - Amendments
Proposed amendments to this Constitution shall be submitted in writing at any regular meeting. Any proposed amendments shall be read to club members by the Vice-President, recorded and filed, and voted upon at a Club meeting at least one month after it is proposed. Amendments shall become a part of the Constitution only if approved by at least three-fourths of those present and allowed to vote at that club meeting. All members should be notified about the proposed amendment before the voting.
Article 6 - Ratification
This constitution shall be in effect by a three-fourths vote of Disc Golf Club members and the approval of the Advisor.
Article 7 – Date of Constitution
This constitution shall be reviewed and updated (if needed) a minimum of every three (3) years.
Disc Golf Club of the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point Bylaws
1) Any item purchased with Club funds or donated to the Club will remain the property of the Club unless it is moved that the item be donated to another organization or to charity. The members will vote by secret ballot on the motion and a two-third's majority vote will be required to pass the motion with each member counting as one vote.
2) To be officially considered a member of the Disc Golf Club, an individual must pay their membership dues to the Treasurer. Membership dues will be set at ten dollars ($10.00) per academic year.
3) Only the President, Treasurer, and Advisor(s) will have access to the Club account.
4) All members will be expected to donate a reasonable amount of time per
season to fund-raising activities or any other Club sponsored activity that requires a club member to be present. If a member's schedule does not reasonably allow for the donation of their time, they will not be penalized in any way, nor will their standing as a member or officer be affected. However, all members, as stated above will be expected to assist the Club in its operation.
5) Any officer may be expelled from the Disc Golf Club for insufficient participation, neglect of duties, abuse of powers, actions contrary to the aims of the Club, or direct violation of the Constitution and/or bylaws, rules, regulations, laws, or traditions of the Disc Golf Club. That officer shall receive a warning first and be put on probation until such actions are rectified. A three-fourths vote of the entire club membership is necessary for expulsion.
